Strobe or continuous lighting for studio?
I am looking to set up a studio with a 3 light set up and have been debating strobe or continuous lighting. What method works better in your opinion? Also how much wattage should I be looking for in each light?
Stobe! Continuous lights get hot, and typically don't have the same output that strobes have. Strobes are also more configurable, and let you control falloff, and ratios a bit more.
Power depends on studio size. with my setup, I've got 2 Vivitar 285 hotshoe flashes (guide number 140) and I never, ever need to go above 1/2 power, and rarely above 1/4. Cheap 250 WS strobes will supply enough power in a normal sized studio space, but more power is never a bad thing.
